I’m still stewing and brewing that post about our hospital experience. There are so many layers to tease apart that it’s difficult to sort out just yet. But Nik is unaware of that and just keeps moving on!
Meanwhile, with some pharmaceutical assistance, today Nik finally released the last vestiges of what had been trapped in his rectum for the better part of several weeks. To say there was a marked change in his demeanor would be an understatement. This translated into a very happy child for the remainder of the afternoon and evening.
It also translated into a little boy who joyfully fed himself for the first time ever using a fork tonight. An odd assortment of things such as mashed banana and goldfish crackers (yes, mixed together —he’s got an adventurous palate, what can I say?), shredded pork tenderloin, potato with sour cream, and broccoli.
Go figure.
Nik went to bed without fuss or fight and has been sleeping very peacefully. I’m keeping my fingers, toes, eyes —and whatever else I can possibly cross— crossed in the hopes that tonight we can all sleep in peace.
Thank you, all of you, for your good thoughts and wishes, your prayers and words of support during this challenging time. You helped me keep my flagging spirits lifted while we were in the hospital. Truly.
Here’s to beautiful, blessed, wonderful SLEEP. Hope you get lots this evening. To go with the beautiful, peaceful snow.
i’d give you my own sleep if i could, i’ve been so worried about you.
i’m hoping the corner is turned and good days are coming.
big hugs
Yay for poo! Obviously he’s feeling much better! Hoping everyone sleeps well at Nik’s house tonight.
Enjoy your sleep. I have all my appendages crossed for you too!

so glad he is home. a big hug for the little sleeper.
Oh, this is so good to hear. I hope he slept as happily as he ate! (We had a good night chez Joy. Sleep makes such a difference.)
I hope things can “keep moving” for him now. Am interested to read your hospital post, whenever it comes together.
Who knew forks and poo could go so well together?
I’m so glad your home. Being in the hospital is too much, even when you know how desperately you need the help.
love, love, love.

I have been hoping & praying for a light to the end of the tunnel, and I’m just so happy to feel the joy, however tired it might be, emanating from your post. So glad. Write more when you can. XO
Wow, that’s all wonderful.
Eating with a fork…that’s fantastic.
And he ate pork tenderloin? Very impressive.
Mashed banana and goldfish would go over pretty well at my house. In fact, I think I found that exact combination in one of our car seats a few days ago.
Hope he keeps feeling better!
Awesome!
