The latest casualty in the explosion of new skills? All the decor on the walls in my family room.
I thought for sure this quilt was safe for a bit longer. I was foolishly mistaken.

Clearly, analytical thinking and motor planning are not the deficits we feared they would be!
I think I leave this comment a lot here, but I’ll say it again. That kid is amazing. Oh, and also big, big trouble.
LOL, Stimey, you are soooo right about the big trouble. I’m thrilled he’s finally developing the skills (and so quickly!), I just wish he’d exercise a bit more, um, restraint? I kind of miss my furniture and decorations which once adorned the room. *sigh*
wheee (rippppp!)
Ooh, piximama, it’d be more like “CRASH!” followed by a trip to the ER for stitches. That quilt is held up by a solid oak hanger at least ten feet up. Guess what’s being removed from the wall tonight? *sniff*
the kid is a tar – you must be tired of hearing this but he really is
I mean star of course not tar
Oh, I don’t know, K…sometimes he is like tar. Sticky, messy, clinging to me…LOL. And, really, what mama in her right mind *ever* tires of hearing others say her child is a star?? Certainly not me! 😉
Wow. Incredible.
OK, I give up.
He looks like an astronaut out for a walk in space. What’s he “tethered” to?
Joe
btw, that is a nice quilt.
The little stinker! What an awesome picture though. So sorry you have to hide your beautiful treasure!
I love him. 🙂
LOL, Joe! He’s become enamored of his doggie “backpack” (which is actually a toddler harness). The “tail” is the safety leash. Now that he’s mastered the fine motor skill of opening the bubkles (and the car seat 5pt harness, too!) he’s really into putting it on and racing around like a lunatic.
Sometimes he puts it on upside down so doggies head is facing downward and it looks like a jet-pack.
Ah, the quilt. One of my most treasured things; it was handmade for our wedding by Niksdad’s aunt. Complete with an embroidered inscription on the back. I’ll have to find somewhere else to display it that he can’t reach. Like my mother’s house.
Can you get it up any higher? I’m amazed, it’s really high up as it is! Wow!!!! my kids certainly got into stuff (especially Maya) but she was so much smaller, and was a bit more limited by her size.
And if you have to move (pack up) the quilt, it’s a much better choice than to have it messed up in any way — I’d bet my car you’ll be able to take it out again in a couple more years. And remember – there’s probably something in all of our houses that had to be put away for a bit of time…
🙂 XOXO
LOVE the monkey backpack thing, and that’s is part of “getting dressed.” He is such a funny muchkin! 🙂
OK, I get it now. In fact *I* think it might be fun to put one of those on and race around the house sometime, having the “tail” going every which way behind me.
Joe
Well, Joe, I can tell you that Nik thinks it’s outrageously fun and funny. He laughs himself silly sometimes. I think the key is that he strips down to his skivvies to do it most times. 😉
he is simply incredible.
I love the photo story…He’s adorable. And it is a thrill when they start doing things that you feared they might not do.
Just wanted to stop by and say thanks for your lovely comment on my post at Hopeful Parents today. And wow, Nik is showing some wonderful balance and ingenuity!
